Spellskite has to be a legal target of the target spell or ability for its activated ability to work. You can activate spellskite and attempt to change the target of Bribery but it won’t change the target.
Can you Spellskite a thoughtseize?
-Spellskite can target spells which cannot target it, such as [[Thoughtseize]] or [[Go for the Throat]], but the target will not change. It can also target spells or abilities without target, like a [[Wrath of God]], a [[Storm Crow]], or [[Liliana of the Veil]]’s abilities.
Is Spellskite legal in modern?
The target can only be changed if Spellskite is a legal target for the spell or ability. For instance, you could use Spellskite’s ability targeting Go for the Throat, but when Spellskite’s ability resolves, the target will not be changed, because Spellskite is not a legal target for Go for the Throat.
Can you Spellskite equipment?
No. Spellskite doesn’t change control of anything, but you can’t even change the target of the equip ability because the equip ability can only target creatures that the equipment’s controller controls.
What if Spellskite has Hexproof?
Is a Spellskite with Hexproof useless? Relatively useless, yeah. You won’t be able to change the target of any spell an opponent controls with it, since the target doesn’t change if Spellskite isn’t a legal target for the spell or ability when its own ability is resolving.
Can Spellskite steal enchantments?
Yes you can redirect enchantment – auras to spellskite like splinter twin unless there is some specific stipulation on the card. You can can not redirect an opponents equipment attachment however.
Can Spellskite stop Counterspells?
No. When you change the target of a spell, the new target has to be legal. A permanent of any kind is not a valid target for something that says “target spell”, so you won’t be able to redirect Cancel.
