The Rat King covenant allows you to take on other players in two specific areas of the game: the Grave of Saints and the Doors of Pharros. The idea is that you’re protecting the rats’ heartland from trespassers.

Joining. There are two ways of joining this covenant: Defeat either the Royal Rat Vanguard in the Grave of Saints area, or the Royal Rat Authority in Doors of Pharros. After defeating either boss, you will be rewarded with the boss soul, along with a Rat Tail.
What happens if you join the rat covenant?
If you are in the Rat Covenant and win you will receive: 1 Pharros’ Lockstone, 1 Smooth & Silky Stone (Patch 1.10) and 1 Rat Tail.
